What songs would you put on a mix CD titled "Dance Party!"?
that's funny, because i actually just did this last night. the newspaper was short on articles, so they ran (i'm not making this up) "rebecca top 5 songs to shake your groove to." my selections showed what a teenage girl i am. i will share the article:
"1. Beep by The Pussycat Dolls: Just suggestive enough to make a scene, but decidedly not trashy...well, not that trashy. PCD is the hottest when it comes to legit dance jams.
2. Hot As Ice by Britney Spears: Brit’s new album is the greatest, and this song definitely does not get enough respect. If you don’t yet have the entire Blackout album, ITunes that, um, “stuff” ASAP!
3. About Us (DJ Punxo Remix) by Brooke Hogan and Paul Wall: The song is hot, but the remix is way hotter. Brookers may be Amazonian, but she is still my homegirl!
4. Butterfly (Upswing Remix) by Konami: Every rave needs a J-Pop jam to get hyper to. Loves it!
5. I’m Really Really Hot by Missy Elliott: An oldie, but a…well, you know the rest. No party is completely without committing a little Misdemeanor!"

awesome soundtrack. it uses very old (as in, 1930s or so) blues, bluegrass, and jazz. surprising, but awesome.

first, i'd like to make it clear that health food is an obsession with me. i cannot get enough. it makes you feel good. this is hard for me, because i have a billion of them. basically, it involves these noodles. there are only twenty calories in a serving. that is fantastic. they can be substituted for pasta in any kind of pasta dish. they are extremely filling. but, my favorite use for them is stir-fry. you have to basically innondate them with sauces and spices or else they taste like nothing. but, isn't that the entire point of tofu products (they are made of tofu)? so, basically, i stir-fry them with all sorts of things. i am the best at making asian stir-fry. the best sauce to use is peanut sauce, and add some ginger powder to that. i also bread tofu and use that (to bread tofu, you have to press it, and then cut it into bite-sized squares or triangles. then, you coat it in cornstarch. then you have to coat it in some sort of low calorie sauce, and then roll it in bread crumbs). i just use a ridiculous amount of vegetables too, like edamame, broccoli, green beans, fresh baby spinach, chopped celery, and basically whatever else i have laying around. nuts are a good addition too - i like almonds or peanuts. but almonds are better for you.
the trick to making this delish is to make a really flavorful sauce. i sometimes mix my own, out of things like peanut sauce, maybe a little bit of dijon mustard, a little bit of soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and then spices like ginger, basil, and garlic. make sure to go light on the sauce and heavy on the spice to cut calories and fat.
so, what's the calorie count on this? i am kind of obsessed with calorie counting. well. the only thing that has any real calories is the noodles. but, they barely have any fat at all. so, twenty calories to start. two or so cups of organic mixed vegetables are...i don't know, eighty calories? less? hmm. half a cup of breaded tofu probably packs around 90 calories. a sparse sprinkling of almonds maybe adds twenty calories (hah...the almonds are as much as the noodles. imagine that!). and let's just fix whatever sauce one would make at...300 calories. so, that is 510 calories for a meal that i can rarely even finish because it is so ridiculously loaded with protein and fiber. so, i'd probably only eat two thirds of it and have the rest for lunch the next day. it sounds like more calories than it's worth, but the foods used in it have barely any saturated fat, etc. it's mostly just tofu and vegetables. as you can see, there are ways around the extra calories, like eliminating the almonds (although they are a really delish add) and making the most low-cal sauce possible (which would probably be based around soy sauce, although the sodium in soy sauce is insane). i might eat it with a bit of whole wheat indian naan bread, but it's really unnecessary.
so, that's that. i know a lot of people who would never even think about eating this, but i love it. it is my go-to meal when i'm feeling lazy.
another fave is a whole wheat quesadilla with black beans, tomato, corn, hummus, spinach, vegan mozzerella, with a sprinkling of cumin. but, that's another post.

don't laugh; you know it's a good one. i like it.
Love it or hate it, many of you lost an hour of sleep last night due to Daylight Saving Time? Worth It? Do you like it more/less now that Daylight Saving Time occurs earlier (and later) in the year?
i have to be completely honest - i did not know it was daylight savings time until about 6:00pm when i heard my parents talking about it.
i was in shock.
you would have thought that the incorrect clocks all around my house would have tipped me off...noooope. i thought it was a power outage.
i need to crawl out from this cozy little hole of oblivion sometime before i accidentally do something fatal.
to tell you the truth, though, it didn't really affect me, as you can tell, because i am home and can sleep whenever and for however long i'd like. actually, i wish i had noticed that there were two 2:00am's, because i was up then. it would have been kind of freaky, and i might have thought that i had tumbled into a parallel universe or something. too bad.
